Jul 22, 2010 - will this pick up fm ?
855h0le Says:
Jul 22, 2010 - @world295 am or fm- The Frequency is dictated by the length of the coil windings.. So the short you go the lower the frequency.. I dont know of any formula based on this circuit to get to the FM band.
bnunka Says:
Jul 22, 2010 - @tjinga2u1 if you really built a windmill to make electricity, USE IT TO HELP SAVE THE EARTH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jul 27, 2010 - What does the coil do?
JustWickedSwede Says:
Jul 27, 2010 - @oneofy Probably amplify the radio signals.
JustWickedSwede Says:
Jul 27, 2010 - @world295 Nope. Only AM.
apopheniacMCMLXXXIX Says:
Jul 28, 2010 - @oneofy Any metal object that's long enough has current induced in it from the radio waves traveling through the air. You could make a radio just by attaching a very sensitive earphone to an antenna of some kind, but then you wouldn't be able to select frequencies. It would only work if you were very near the transmitter of a large radio station. The coil and the crystal oscillate at a certain frequency and that allows you to select one specific station. It's called a tuned circuit.Look it up. :)
