Although it may not be as true in recent years as 20+ years ago, I still think great teams must have solid line play and good or great defenses. I am not an NFL expert, but Suh has been raved about as one of the best college defensive players ever. Any team that can put consistent pressure on the other team's QB has an excellent chance of winning, and I don't care who the QB involved is.

The Lions have a Chicago Cub-like quality about them...you really want them to win, but you're so used to them losing, it's just part of the territory. Now, an 0-16 record is an EPIC FAIL, but still, how many of you were rooting for a perfect winless season when it got to 0-14? Hey, if you've gotta be known for something... That said, I like where the team's going. This'll be a fun season.

The Pats are way over the hill now, so unless they get a lots of younger, good players, especially on defense and the offensive line, they may not make the playoffs this year. But then they would not be able to play the mighty Lions, who are always a threat to win the Super Bowl .... at least until the season starts. Sorry about that; I could not resist.
